At Chiddingfold Nursery we strive to ensure the child to staff ratio is always above the requirements set by the EYFS (2017) Welfare Requirements.
There are 6 members of permanent staff employed by the nursery. We are a well established team, working, learning and growing together over many years. In addition, we have a select bank of staff who are fully DBS checked and who regularly help out at the nursery.
As well as gaining qualifications in early years care and education, the team participate in further training to keep them up-to-date with the changes in the early years sector. We have all recently undertaken Early Years First Aid training with St. John Ambulance and a course on safeguarding children.

I have worked at the nursery since 1999. My first role was as Secretary for the Parent Committee and I then became Chairman for the next 3 years. In 2001, I started helping out as Bank Staff and by 2005 had completed a Cache level 3 qualification and progressed to Manager. I have succesfully gained a Degree and achieved Eary Years Professional Status which means I am a specialist in working with children from birth to five. I am a Mum to seven children and am "Grammy" to three gorgeous grandchildren! It's exciting to work with young children at this crucial stage of their development and I am passionate about providing a learning environment where children thrive. With concerns surrounding children's mental health our approach focuses on well-being first and foremost. It's simply the best job in the world!
Qualifications: BA(HONS) 1st Class: Early Childhood Studies (2011), Early Years Professional Status (2013), Paediatric First Aid, Makaton Level 4
Equality Needs Co-ordinator (ENCO)
I joined the nursery as Bank Staff while my daughter was attending and never left! I qualified Level 3 in 2015 and am now Equality Needs Co-ordinator (ENCO) which means a great deal to me. Ensuring equality for all in our setting ties in and enhances our overarching ethos of wellbeing. I really enjoy engaging children in creative activities – enabling them to express themselves and feel part of the fabric of the setting. I also enjoy bringing my deep love of the outdoors to the day and encouraging children to spend time immersed in the wonders of the natural world. I feel very lucky to be part of such a wonderful team who all go the extra mile to deliver a highly professional and caring environment for our children and their families. I find having a small part in the early years of a child’s life and guiding them towards school incredibly fulfilling and a true privilege.
Qualifications; BA(Hons) Visual Communication. Level 3 Early Learning and Childcare. Paediatric First Aid
I have been working at Chiddingfold Village Nursery for five years now and have loved every minute.
I enjoyed working towards my level 3 Qualification after receiving my English Degree a few years ago. It was fun studying again.
Every day is different within the setting and is always exciting. My daughter thrived during her time here. I feel very lucky to have a job that is so rewarding.
Qualifications; BA(hons) English and Sociology. Level 3 Diploma Early Learning and Childcare. Paediatric First Aid.
Early Years Educator
Healthy Eating Co-ordinator
Having moved to the village in 2012 I chose the nursery for my youngest son Albie. Whilst he was attending nursery I had the opportunity to become a member of Bank Staff. I thoroughly enjoyed this role and was delighted to be offered a full time position. In December 2017 I completed my Level 3 Diploma in Children's Learning and Development.
I value the importance of my role ensuring the children have a happy, safe and fun experience during their Early Years. It is wonderful to then see them thriving at school in the future.
Qualifications. Level 3 Diploma in Children's Learning and Development. Paediatric First Aid.
Designated Safeguarding Lead
I am the Deputy Manager and Designated Safeguarding Lead for our setting. I have recently completed the Foundation Degree in Special Educational Needs (which I prefer to call additional needs) and Inclusive Practice.
I feel very strongly that children who are happy, confident and who have a high self-esteem will thrive at school and will be more open to learning. The well-being of the children in our setting is our absolute priority. We want our children to develop their personality, talents and ability to the full ( Art 29, United Nations Rights of the Child 1989 ). We aim to teach our children mechanisms to cope with the challenges life will throw at them - and we have lots of fun doing so. Our setting is a very happy place for both children and us practitioners!
Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 for Child Care, Learning and Development, Foundation Degree Special Educational Needs Level 5. Paediatric First Aid.
I have lived in Chiddingfold nearly all of my life and cannot think of a better place to raise a family in. I am a mother to three children, all of whom attended the nursery, and I am now also a grandmother. When my youngest child started nursery in 2006 I joined the committee where I then became a member of the bank staff. I was then offered a permanent full time position on the nursery staff team where I achieved an NVQ Level 2 for Child Care and then later on achieving an NVQ Level 3 for Child Care becoming an Early Years Practitioner. I am also the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO) and the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. My job is rewarding on so many levels, working with the children and their parents/carers to support them with their emotional and social development and providing a safe, secure and happy environment.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 for Child Care, Learning and Development. Paediatric First Aid.
The daily experience of children in early years settings and the overall quality of the provision, depends on all practitioners having appropriate qualifications, training, skills and knowledge, and a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
